ARCHERY HUNTS

Timberghost archery hunting is typically done from either high-quality hang-on stands or ladder stands, with an occasional ground blind when necessary. All sets are designed to be both safe and comfortable so you can optimize your time in the woods. Through pre-season preparation and in-season scouting, the Timberghost crew has helped archery hunters average a 72 percent shot opportunity for the past seven years. Bucks brought into camp have averaged 146 during the archery season with the largest bucks harvested scoring over 180 most every year, leaving hunters satisfied with their experience and ready to rebook.

GUN hunts

Cold temperatures and a little snow are every hunter’s dream this time of year; the deer are finished with their love-struck wandering and are focused on food for the winter. Use this pattern to your advantage with Timberghost’s multiple acres of food plots and standing crops. Most evenings are spent hunting food plots from box blinds while mornings might be over food or on a stand in a bottleneck, taking advantage of late-season travel patterns. With an average of only 8 gun hunters in camp for each season, you are sure to benefit from the low hunting pressure. Success rates have been as low as 50 percent and as high as 100 percent with the past five years averaging at 74 percent. Average bucks brought into camp have averaged 146, with our largest scoring 206 gross B&C. Our seasoned guides are experts at taking you to the right place at the right time.

IOWA WHITETAIL DEER HUNTING TAG & LICENSING

Iowa is a preference point-based draw, and there are only a limited amount of tags awarded each year. The application period with the Iowa DNR is approximately from May 1 – June 1, with results of the draw usually posted by mid-July. While Timberghost has no control over who will or will not draw a tag for any given year, we assist hunters with the application process to get points and enter for a tag. As a service to you, we submit most hunters’ applications for no charge. Gun hunters typically take two years to draw a license while archery hunters normally draw on the fifth year of applying.

Each year that you apply for a license or tag, a non-refundable $500 deposit is required to reserve your dates. All deposits received will be applied to your hunt cost the year you successfully draw a tag. The deposit does not cover license fees that are charged by the state of Iowa.
