We typically start our archery hunts around the last 10 days of October and run through the week before Thanksgiving.  This allows all our hunters the opportunity to hunt during the most exciting and productive times of season.  While it is an option, we typically do not book early October or late November as they are typically slower times of year for deer movement, but will try to accommodate you, if requested.

Archery hunting is typically done from either high-quality hang on stands or ladder stands with an occasional ground blind when necessary.  All our sets are done to be safe and comfortable so you can spend as much time as you like in the woods.

These hunts include 5 full days of hunting.  We normally have 2-3 hunters per guide and only 4-6 free range hunters in camp each week with access to roughly 4000 acres of prime Iowa whitetail habitat.  Intense scouting, early preparation, light hunting pressure and smart hunting tactics all help us to put you in the right place at the right time.  If it is in our control you can be assured it will be done to your benefit.

Over the last 7 years we have averaged 72% shot opportunity for our hunters and the bucks brought into camp have averaged 142 with the past two years averaging closer to 145.  We have taken deer up to 189 typical gross P&Y and have missed opportunities at larger.  Weather is a key factor during the archery season and nothing beats a late October or November cold front for getting the bucks moving.  By concentrating our efforts in and around the rut we normally have the odds tipped in our favor regardless of other factors.

There is no draw length or draw weight limit on archery equipment if you are shooting an arrow at least 18 inches in length with a broadhead.  Crossbows are allowed with a note from your doctor and approval of the Iowa DNR. We will gladly help you through that process should assistance be needed.

All free-range hunts are 5 day semi-guided hunts on our unfenced properties.  If season and lodge availability allow, hunters may continue hunting for an additional $500 per day.  To be eligible for these hunts you must successfully draw an Iowa hunting license which we will be happy to help you secure through the application process.

Archery Packages: $5,300

FREE RANGE REFUND POLICIES:

We have two policies that affect the final cost of your hunt.

1) If you do not harvest or wound an animal as determined by our staff we will refund $1,500 of your hunt cost.

2) If you successfully harvest a buck scoring over 140 gross B&C or P&Y, we will refund $1,000 of your hunt cost.  This is done to encourage our hunters to focus on harvesting mature bucks and giving the younger bucks a chance to mature.
